Revue on the N B C Photographic Competition

Hello Everyone,

One of the things I love about the photographic competition is  the debating afterwards, this will  normally carry on for a year or even longer and it will always be so. We should remember though that the Judge has a difficult job and his decisions should not be taken lightly.

This year Using James Shooter a professional independent  Wildlife Photographer as our Judge,  worked quite well. Changing our format by firstly showing all  entrant images complete with no commentary and then giving descriptive comments on the top three of each category
From these our photographers could glean a few tips for next time, for example, James seems to like arty type images and although he liked the monochrome Black and White format he also likes a splash of colour. He also says he is not a fan of the square cropping  something I also adhere to.

The images entered were all very worthy contestants and in some categories come from countries like Canada, Gambia, Cuba, Norway, Spain, Alaska and even Outer space and Northampton. We seem to be a well travelled lot with some excellent photographers.

As always a little good mannered banter emanating from the audience light heated and funny, good to hear with a little back slapping from appreciative viewers.

The Photography was wonderful its great to see what people are getting up to with their images. Everyone's a winner in its own right. With the prospect of winning the prestigious Graham Soden Photographic Award, the quality of images grows. Well done to all who took part in entering their hard earned images, without whom there would be no competition.

In due course the top three of each category will be posted under the 2016 Photography competition banner, along with the comments given by James.
I will be posting all of the remaining images on the blog for your delectation as well as doing our Formula One points system.

We should applaud John Showers for the hours he spends collating and arranging the Images as he does every year!
Also a BIG thank you to James for doing a  mighty Fine job in judging.
Thanks to Neil for his presentation of the evening.
I would like also to thank everyone for purchasing a raffle ticket, part of the proceeds going toward the engraving of Grahams Trophy the rest toward my new camera. Thanks again for voting the image
of the year.

Perhaps I should give a mention to the winner.......by one vote, phew! thats close

Dave Jackson, with his award winning image of a Nuthatch   Very well done my son, 2 years in a row, who'd have guessed it.
