Tonight’s meeting is brought to you by the members for the members. And a big thank you to all who’ve submitted photos into this year’s completion for the benefit of all. In particular, I’d like to extend a special thanks to those who’ve entered photos throughout the years without a taste of success, those who may not have the best photographic equipment and never really expected to win.
Just imagine watching a race with Usain Bolt running around a track on his own with no competitors, or Lewis Hamilton driving around a circuit with no other cars in the race - because others didn’t enter as they thought there was no point in competing. “I’m not going to win so why should I bother?”
Over the years I’ve entered what I thought were the best photos I’d ever taken, only to be overlooked. It’s easy to become demoralised but our hobby is more than just winning competitions; it’s the taking part that counts.
